The human being is not limited by the body, thoughts, emotions or personal story. The body and mind are instruments of expression, but we are not what we express, we are the one who observes. Deep within every person lives a quiet, present Consciousness, which witnesses, which does not think, does not react, does not judge, but sees, illuminates and receives all of it.
In the Orthodox tradition, the highest expression of the spiritual path is called the knowledge of God, and the ultimate reach of human development is deification. Saint Athanasius the Great expresses this in the words:
“God became man so that man might become God.”
This is not a call to pride, but to a return to the source, to the recognition that the divine spark within us is our true nature, and not our ego, wound or role. The Kingdom of God is within, says Christ, not in outer forms, but in the heart that has purified its gaze.
In the Eastern spiritual paths, such as Hinduism and Buddhism, the same message is conveyed through different symbols and words: Atman is Brahman, which means that individual consciousness is One with the all-pervading divine Principle. In Buddhism, discovering one's true nature means transcending the ego and awakening into pure, impartial awareness, without desires, resistance or identification.
Regardless of tradition, the message is the same:
A person is not what they think they are, but what they are before every thought, every emotion, every form.
In systemic practice, this path is called self-realization, freedom from the layers that hide the truth from us. Fears, traumas, beliefs, inherited family patterns, they are all clouds in the sky of consciousness. We do not fight them, we observe them, illuminate them, let them go.
When those layers begin to dissolve, what remains is not emptiness, but the fullness of Being:
- Knowledge, a clear and direct seeing of the truth
- Love, a natural unity with all that is
- Creation, the quiet power to change the world from within, not by struggle, but by presence
This state is not a theoretical achievement. It is not something that is understood, but something one awakens into.
Carl Jung called it individuation, Orthodoxy speaks of transfiguration, and Buddhism of enlightenment. These are all different terms for the same phenomenon: a return to oneself, the discovery that we were never separate, only asleep in the identities we found and adopted.
When the programs that condition us dissolve, we no longer react from pain, but from peace. Then a person does not seek happiness, because they are happiness. They do not beg to be loved, because they become love. They do not ask about meaning, because they live from the very source of meaning.
It is a testimony that does not come from the mind, but from a being that shines quietly, like an oil lamp in the sanctuary of the soul.
In that state, a person is one with themselves, with others and with God.
Not because it knows, but because it Is.

All it takes is conscious intention. And the path of conscious intention does not ask for perfection, but for presence. It does not ask us to know everything, but to be ready to open up.
The first step is not big. But it is true.
And when it is true, it is already bright.
